ACWORTH, Ga. - A pleasant surprise for many Acworth residents Wednesday.
The Acworth Police Department teamed up with Tilted Tulip Florist to surprise random people on the street with free flowers.
It is part of the Society of American Florists nationwide initiative called Petal It Forward.
The goal of the initiative is to promote kindness and positive connections within communities and Acworth officers said it is a great way for them to do just that.
“I hope people have an understanding that police officers work with the community and it's not us versus them. This is a way for us to engage citizens outside of a law enforcement capacity and they'll see that we're real people and that we enjoy having those relationships,” Capt. Mark Cheatham, Acworth Police Department.
Officers stood at several locations throughout the city, ready with flowers to hand out.
