50 families "Shop with a Badge" in Atlanta

ATLANTA - Fifty families got early Christmas gifts at the Brookhaven Police Department’s annual “Shop with a Badge” event Saturday morning.

Members of the department, along with officials from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, Georgia State Troopers and other first responders, participated in the event at the Target on North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta.

The department says more than $10,600 was donated and used to purchase gifts for local families, many of which had more than one child.

Each child partnered up with an officer, who helped them select holiday gifts of their choosing.

The agency said the event was a major success and they are looking forward to doing it again next year.
