$2,000 reward for information after teen shot near corner store

Police are offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the person or people responsible for a shooting on Fletcher Street.

18-year-old Ja'Carlos Jeffries, of Atlanta, was shot and killed. According to police, Jeffries was in the 300 block of Fletcher Street when someone shot him multiple times just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

He was transported to Grady Hospital where he later died. It is believed that the suspect fled from the scene on foot, according to police.

Investigators continue working to identify any suspects in this shooting and are asking anyone with any information on this case to call Crime Stoppers.

Persons do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000 for the arrest and indictment of the suspects.

Paramedics rushed Jeffries to Grady Memorial Hospital, but he did not survive.

"We are looking for one suspect who we believe is responsible for the shooting and at this point in time we are canvassing the neighborhood looking for additional leads," said Lt. Ricardo Vazquez, Atlanta Police Department. "He was assaulted by the suspect. We have no motive yet on why or if there was anything that led up to the shooting incident."

Detectives said the gunman was last seen running down Fletcher toward Windsor. They don't have a good description of him.Police also don't know why the deadly shooting took place, but said they don't think robbery was the motive.
