Vintage cars headline weekend event at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta

It’s one thing to see today’s fastest cars take the track at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta — but it’s a whole different experience to see some of history’s most prized race cars take the same turns.  And if you’re a fan of vintage vehicles, an event this weekend is a perfect way to relive some of the racing’s brightest moments.

The Historic Sportscar Racing Mitty returns to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta on Friday, April 26th and continues through Sunday, April 28th, bringing ten feature races and tons of sprints to one of the country’s most challenging courses. The event, which is celebrating 42 years, features just about every kind of sports car produced over the past 70 years, including those made by famed Italian manufacturer Alfa Romero.  Many of the beloved Italian sports cars will be on display off the track, and they’ll headline their own race on Saturday at 1:10 p.m.

Historic Sportscar Racing was actually created at Road Atlanta back in the 1970s, with the goal to spotlight race cars from the past. Today, HSR presents vintage racing events at tracks around the region, including Sebring International Raceway, Barber Motorsports Park, and Daytona International Speedway.

Tickets prices for the HSR Mitty are $40 for Friday admission, $50 for Saturday admission, and $40 for Sunday admission — and $80 for a full weekend pass. RV and tent camping are available for the event.

As you know, the Good Day Atlanta feature team has spent plenty of time at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta — we were just there a few weeks ago for the MotoAmerica Championship. But when there’s a possibility of getting behind the wheel of an Alfa Romero, you take it, right?  So we spent the morning back up in Braselton — click the video player above to check out the action!
