Keeping 'Cool' at this year's TOUR Championship

With a new date and a new scoring format, fans heading to this year’s TOUR Championship will notice some changes.  But don’t worry – the 2018-2019 PGA TOUR season finale will bring the same golf stars, top-notch action, and world-class amenities to Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club.

This year’s TOUR Championship has taken over East Lake Golf Club, with the on-course action happening Wednesday, August 21st through Sunday, August 25th -- a change from previous years, during which the tournament took place in September.  The field of 30 golfers will also start the tournament under a new FedExCup scoring format, which allows the first-ranked golfer to start the TOUR Championship at 10-under par and assigns other starting strokes to players based on their standings.  Oh, and another change that’s probably pretty exciting to the golfers?  The FedExCup champ will not get a $15 million prize, up from the previous $10 million!

Now…on to the fan activities. Grounds tickets start at $30, and single-day options are available each day.  But get this – fans ages 18 and under can get in for free along with a ticketed adult. Amenities available with Grounds tickets include the SO Cool Zone, which features food from Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, Universal Joint, and Steinbeck’s, along with a special display of real baby gators from the Georgia Aquarium. Fans can also try out the GSGA (Georgia State Golf Association) Putting Experience, which allows them to play a little golf on a three-hole practice green.

There are so many things to see and do at East Lake Golf Club this week that we had to spend a little time there exploring.  Click the video player above to check out our morning getting a special look inside this year’s TOUR Championship.
