'Hidden Gems' Week: Good Day explores Georgia's state parks

It’s the 85th anniversary of the Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites system – and to celebrate, Good Day Atlanta is going on a week-long tour of some of our area’s most beautiful and unique attractions.

Right now, Georgia State Parks is encouraging visitors to go on a “treasure hunt” – searching for the Hidden Gems of Georgia.  There’s a complete list of the “hidden gems” on the Georgia State Parks website, and it includes the Prohibition-era moonshine truck at Amicalola Falls State Park (in Dawsonville), the rock formation known as “table rock” at Panola Mountain State Park (in Stockbridge), and the hidden homesteads at Red Top Mountain State Park (in Acworth).  Many of these “gems” are unknown to even frequent state park visitors, and some exist on little-traveled trails that are easy to overlook.
