Good Day Atlanta viewer information story May 10, 2017
Atlanta - Cats & Coffee Make the Perfect Blend for Atlanta Cafe: You'd expect to hear the whirring of espresso machines in any Atlanta coffee shop. But there's only one where that sound is joined by the meows of dozens of cats.
Java Cats Cafe recently opened in Grant Park near Oakland Cemetery, and is the first "cat cafe" in Atlanta. Created by former Georgia State University student Hadyn Hilton and initially funded through Kickstarter donations, the shop features a room filled with more than a dozen roaming cats from PAWS Atlanta, all of which are adoptable. Java Cats Cafe serves coffee from Decatur's Ebrick Coffee and pre-packaged foods provided by The Gathering Industries, a non-profit which trains men and women at the Atlanta Mission in the culinary arts. To ensure some quality time with the cats, reservations may be made online, and there is a $10 admission fee (which includes a cup of coffee or tea) for an hour in the cat room.
Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning at Java Cats Cafe, sipping and snuggling and learning more about the mission of this unique new Atlanta business.
