It’s one of the most successful movie musicals of all time, featuring classic characters and songs including “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.”  Now, The Wizard of Oz is following the yellow brick road…straight to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre.

The Wizard of Oz takes the Fox Theatre stage June 21-26, as part of the Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta series.  The stage production is adapted from the screenplay of the 1939 film classic, which means Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion (and their classic lines of dialogue) are all part of the show, along with the classic Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs.  The family-friendly production also features some new songs written by legendary Broadway composers Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (of Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita), and stars Sarah Lasko as Dorothy, Morgan Reynolds as Scarecrow, Jay McGill as Tin Man, and Aaron Fried as Lion.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, getting a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring an iconic film to the stage.
