Downtown Canton comes alive with annual arts festival

CANTON, Ga. - For many people, May is the most beautiful month in North Georgia.  And this weekend, the colorful blossoms of spring will be even more vibrant, thanks to an arts festival taking over one of our area’s most picturesque historic downtowns.

The 15th annual Canton Festival of the Arts takes over Brown Park in downtown Canton this weekend, bringing together dozens of artists from Georgia and beyond.  The festival is the year’s top fundraiser for the Cherokee County Arts Center, and features a juried Artist’s Market along with several other notable attractions.  The market will feature handmade works from more than 50 artists, with styles ranging from painting to sculpture and woodworking to glass. 

Also returning this year is the Serenity Garden, an area featuring vendors specializing in health and wellness products, and there will a Kid’s Zone with activities to keep children busy and active during the festival. 

And don’t worry, if you work up an appetite while shopping, there will be food and beverages available, along with live entertainment by local performers on the festival stage.

The 15th annual Canton Festival of the Arts will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 and continue through 5 p.m., and will be open again on Sunday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Brown Park is located at 270 East Marietta Street in Canton, and free parking is available on the street and in the Cherokee County Courthouse parking deck.  Admission to the festival is free, but donations are suggested.
