Condo rental traps to avoid

If you're thinking about renting a condo, there are a few "rental traps" to avoid.

According to real estate expert John Adams, avoid the following:

  • Association Controls
  • Government Rental Limits
  • Outright Ban on Rentals
  • Your Lease is Subject to Rules

Adams says there are several distinct advantages to living in a condo - they often feature a pool and a community clubhouse, and all exterior maintenance is usually provided by the association. But a condominium is a different kind of real estate, and you need to be aware of how those differences can affect you as a renter.
