This year, the Softball World Series for girls 10 and under is being held in South Haven, Mississippi. Representing Georgia are the new state champions, the Barrow County All Stars.

The young ladies are the first ever to represent Barrow County in this age group. Coach Alan Baughcum has a lot of confidence in the team he helped hand pick.

"We've played a lot of other teams that may have had better individual talent, but as a team as a whole, how these girls have meshed together is what has benefited this us and got us this far," said Baughcum.

The girls were chosen from six teams in the league and have been practicing hard. They've played two tournaments as a team and this included the state tournament which they won. Catcher Brinlely Baughcum said they are continuing to work hard, preparing for the World Series.

"We're pretty close to being ready, but we're still going to work on it because we're going to practice hard and when we go to he tournament, we are going to play our best and pick up the trophy," said Baughcum

Their eyes are on the trophy and these girls know it won't be easy. They still have a few more practices under the summer sun, but will head to Mississippi July 13.

They've raised funds through events like car washes to pay for hotels. They also et up a Go Fund Me account for anyone who would like to assist.
