Aladdin's magic carpet lands at Atlanta's Fox Theatre
ATLANTA - It began as one of the most successful animated films of all time, and then became a blockbuster on Broadway with five Tony Award nominations. Now, Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie are riding the magic carpet to Atlanta, bringing the beloved classic to the Fox Theater stage.
The national tour of Aladdin takes over the Fox Theatre from September 12 through the 23, bringing the magical story to life for Atlanta audiences. The musical is based on the 1992 Disney film of the same name, which won two Academy Awards and became the highest-grossing film of that year; the stage adaptation opened on Broadway in 2014, and was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Musical. The national tour features actors Clinton Greenspan and Lissa deGuzman as Aladdin and Jasmine, and Trevor Dion Nicholas in the iconic role of Genie, and includes such now-classic songs as “A Whole New World,” “Friend Like Me,” and “Arabian Nights.” Aladdin is part of the 2018-2019 Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Atlanta season, and will be followed by School of Rock next month.
