Travel at two of the nation’s busiest hubs has reached a breaking point as a partial government shutdown enters its sixth week. With funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) lapsed, TSA staffing shortages have led to "unprecedented" security lines. In a controversial move, President Trump ordered the deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to Hartsfield-Jackson and George Bush Intercontinental, Monday, March 23, 2026, to help manage the overflow.
