Bronze bison statues debut at the Smithsonian
As the United States marches toward its 250th anniversary, a new trio of permanent residents has taken up a prominent position on the National Mall. Three massive bronze bison sculptures were officially unveiled Friday, March 20, 2026, outside the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, serving as a powerful tribute to America’s national mammal and a testament to one of the world's greatest conservation success stories. The statues—a bull, a cow, and a calf—now stand as the first sight visitors see as they approach the museum’s entrance.
