Marquise Meda

For many meteorologists, the origin story of their passion for science begins at an early age. For Marquise Meda, that passion was sparked during the summer of 2005 while he was in middle school. The Atlantic hurricane season that year was one of the most powerful and destructive on record, headlined by Hurricane Katrina. Witnessing the devastation and seeing how a single series of catastrophic events could impact millions of lives, Marquise immediately knew he wanted to pursue a career that would help people better understand and prepare for severe weather.

He followed that passion to the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a master’s degree in Atmospheric Science with a minor in Mathematics. His curiosity about weather eventually led him into the United States Air Force, where he served as a Combat Weather Forecaster. His military service took him around the world, exposing him to different cultures and environments while teaching him the discipline, confidence, and communication skills that continue to shape his work today.

Those lessons have carried over into his career as a broadcast meteorologist. Marquise began his television career as an intern at CBS-2/WLNY-TV in New York City, the nation’s largest television market. He later moved to Greenville, North Carolina, where he worked as a meteorologist and reporter for 9 On Your Side WNCT. During his time there, he covered Hurricanes Florence, Dorian, and Humberto and saw firsthand the important role a broadcast meteorologist plays in keeping communities informed and safe during times of severe weather.

In February 2021, Marquise returned to Atlanta, joining The Weather Channel, where he provided forecasts for communities across the country. His career later took him to Orlando, Florida, where he joined WESH 2 News and immersed himself in one of the nation's most active regions for tropical weather. During his time at WESH 2, Marquise covered three major hurricanes that made landfall in Florida: Idalia, Helene, and Milton. Those experiences further strengthened his expertise in tropical forecasting and reinforced his passion for communicating potentially life-saving information to viewers.

Now, Marquise brings that experience back to Georgia as a member of the FOX 5 Storm Team. After years of forecasting severe and tropical weather across the Southeast, he is excited to return to Atlanta and help keep communities across North Georgia prepared for whatever Mother Nature has in store.

When he is not in front of the camera, you can usually find Marquise on the basketball court, underneath a barbell, or soaking up the sun at the beach.
