Viral video shows man stealing laptop from Inman Park business
ATLANTA - Police said two men walked into an office in Inman Park and one took off with a pricey laptop using a distraction technique.
FortyFour is digital agency, clients come and go, but Thursday that laid-back style cost them a laptop.
Owners Adam Roe and Raghu Kkakarala said it all started when the man in the video was just wondering around the business. The man left, but the staff felt something was not right.
“We went and we saw immediately that the laptop was gone. So we got a camera system here. We went back and retrieved the footage. They happened to sit down right in front of the camera,” said Adam Roe.
The video captures the thief's every move. The owners said in the video, you can see the man gesture to the other man to go in as a distraction. Moments later, he crouches down, swipes a laptop, puts it in his bag and is gone.
“It's sad because the Inman Park neighborhood is so nice and I think it just ends up closing the community down even more,” said Roe.
The owners are sharing the video hoping someone could identify the men and in less than 24 hours it's been viewed by more than 8,000 people.
“In the digital age, with all of these cameras and everything around, you’re bound to get caught at some point,” said Roe. “Hopefully, your viewers will be able to help us find him.”
As for why the thief did not see the camera that is unknown. But Roe has his suspicions.
“I think they were just oblivious. They had one thing in mind and they were going for it and everything else was not paying attention,” said Roe.
Anyone who recognizes the men in the video call Atlanta police or Atlanta Crime Stoppers.
