Trial date set for woman accused of killing store clerk

DALTON, Ga. (AP) - An April 27 trial date has been set for the woman accused of killing a northwest Georgia convenience store clerk.

Skyy Raven Marie Mims -- a 21-year-old aspiring model, dancer and rapper from Detroit -- faces a murder charge in the killing of 37-year-old Dahyabhai Chaudhari in Whitfield County in March 2014.

Customers say the clerk was found in a pool of blood, his mouth and eyes duct-taped shut. Authorities say Mims fled the store with lottery tickets and cash.

The Daily Citizen of Dalton reports that Superior Court Judge Jack Partain on Wednesday declared Mims competent for trial.

The Dalton newspaper reports that defense attorney Carla Marable insisted at a previous court hearing that Mims is innocent, and that police arrested her in a case of mistaken identity.
