The Candler Hotels opens in Atlanta

ATLANTA - A new chapter began Wednesday for an iconic building in Atlanta.

The Candler Hotel opened its doors on Wednesday afternoon.

The building sits on Peachtree Street in northeast Atlanta.

Hotel officials said they decided to transform the 17-story building because of the new sports areas and tourist attractions.

The historic property was built in 1906.

It's Atlanta’s first steel skyscraper.
