Tennessee man dubbed 'career criminal' sentenced to 20 years
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee man that prosecutors called a 'career criminal' was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for illegally having a sawed-off shotgun.
A news release from U.S. Attorney Nancy Stallard Harr says 37-year-old Angelo Goldston of Cleveland, Tennessee was sentenced Wednesday in federal district court.
Eyewitnesses at his January 2017 jury trial said Goldston showed his sawed-off shotgun during a heated exchange with an unarmed man as children stood by and watched. The conflict occurred in the middle of the day in a residential Cleveland neighborhood.
The release says his sentence was enhanced because of his seven prior convictions for serious drug offenses and because the gun was a sawed-off shotgun.
