FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Two people were killed late Thursday night in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 85 in Fulton County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
What we know:
Troopers say the crash happened around 11:03 p.m. near Senoia Road. Investigators determined a white tractor-trailer and a black Hyundai Sonata were traveling in the second lane from the median when the tractor-trailer began slowing for traffic. The Hyundai, which appears to have been following too closely, struck the rear of the truck.
The driver of the Hyundai, Derrick Anthony Epps, and front-seat passenger, Ka’Mia Sh’Mashira Frazier, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 7-month-old child in the back seat was properly restrained and appeared uninjured, but was taken by Grady EMS to Arthur Blank Children’s Hospital for evaluation.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt.
I-85 North was closed for about two and a half hours after the crash before reopening.
