Search for Georgia driver accused of dragging deputy
CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A Georgia woman is on the run after police say she was involved in a traffic stop that landed an Alabama deputy in the hospital.
It happened Monday night in Chambers County.
According to the incident report, Deputy Colby Conway stopped Teresa Heard, of Fairburn, for a traffic violation.
The deputy suspected drug activity and asked heard to step out of the car.
That's when officials say her passenger -- Kosiki McDowell, also from Fairburn -- hopped into the driver's seat and took off.
Deputy Conway’s arm got stuck in the door and he was dragged several feet before firing his gun into the car.
McDowell was arrested after a chase, but Heard got away.
The deputy was rushed to the emergency room and is expected to recover.
