Residents rally against gangs, crime in SW Atlanta

Dozens of people gathered in Southwest Atlanta to call for an end to gang violence along Campbellton Road, and make the area safer for families, young children and business owners.

Residents gathered Tuesday night at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and invited city leaders from Atlanta Police and also the Fulton County District Attorney's Office to hear their concerns.

Residents said gang-related activity causes plenty of crimes from gun violence, homicides, burglaries and robberies in the area. Community members expressed to city leaders their desire to curb these crimes to encourage more businesses to invest and flourish in the struggling neighborhoods in the area.

Residents also called for repairs of streets and potholes to encourage business growth and development.
