DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - DeKalb County announced its sixth case of the year on Thursday.
A raccoon captured in the 4500 block of North Peachtree Road in Dunwoody tested positive for rabies.
So far this year, six raccoons that have tested positive for rabies in DeKalb County.
Officials found those animals in Dunwoody, Decatur, Tucker, Stone Mountain, Avondale Estates, and Lithonia.
Rabies is present in Georgia all year long.
Residents should make sure their pets are up to date on their vaccines and call animal control if they see any animal behaving unusually.
