Power has been restored to hundreds of homes in the Dixie Hills community after an Atlanta Police officer crashed into a utility pole early Wednesday morning.

Investigators said the officer's police cruiser went off Joseph E Boone near Whitaker Circle around 3:30 a.m., taking out a power pole. Investigators aren't sure what caused the officer to veer into the pole and off the road.

Georgia Power crews spent several hours working to restore power to the nearly 400 outages reported in the area. Power was back on around 7 a.m.

Authorities haven't said whether the officer was injured.
