DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Two men are dead after a shootout inside a DeKalb County hotel room Friday afternoon, according to police.
It happened at the Super Inn in the 4200 block of Wesley Club Drive. SKYFOX 5 flew over the motel around 12:30 p.m. as investigators continued to arrive at the scene.
DeKalb County Police said a housekeeper was the first to discover the bodies. That housekeeper spoke with FOX 5’s Natalie Fultz, but did not want to be named in this story. She said she has been working at the motel for nine years and has never encountered something like this before.
The housekeeper said she was making her rounds Friday and knocked on the door, but didn’t hear a reply. The curtains were open, so she looked inside and saw the two bodies.
The names of the two men have not yet been released, but police said it appears the two shot and killed each other.
“Apparently, there was some issue between these two individuals in the room, but they clearly, it looks at least right now, it’s very early on in the investigation, it appears they may have shot one another,” said Shiera Campbell, DeKalb County Police Department.
The motel general manager said he recalls both men checking in on Friday. One came early in the morning, the other in the afternoon.
“They may have known each other, you never know,” said Earnest Marshall, general manager.
Police said they do not have a motive for the shooting.
