A 16-year-old unlicensed driver is charged with a crash that shut down a major metro Atlanta road Monday night.

The car was so mangled in the crash that it's hard to even tell the make or model, but Atlanta police say it was stolen.

Atlanta Police say officers Zone 4 spotted the stolen car in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Linkwood Road.

When they attempted to stop the car, the driver sped away and eventually lost control.

Officials say the car crashed into the sign of the Power Package Store located on the 3100 block of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway.

The 16-year-old driver attempted to flee and was caught by police.

A male passenger  had to be cut out of the wrecked car. Medics transported him to the hospital.

The unnamed teen is facing numerous charges including theft by receiving a stolen car, driving without a license, and hit and run.
