Police: Suspect arrested after driver strikes 2 children fleeing officers

One person is in custody and several other are on the run after police said a stolen vehicle struck two children in northwest Atlanta on Wednesday afternoon while fleeing from officers.

Jamarcus Moss was taken into custody in connection with the incident, according to police. It was not immediately clear his role in the incident. The names of the other people in the car were not yet released. It was not immediately with what Moss was charged.

The incident started in the 500 block of Center Hill Avenue when an officer tried to pull over a vehicle. Police said the driver fled and hit a child. A second child was then struck in the 900 block of Margaret Place as the driver continues to try to elude officers, according to investigators.

Police said the driver then wrecked the car a short distance away from the second hit and run

Investigators said they found a gun at the scene.

The first child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston with minor injuries to be checked out. The second child was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later released into their parent’s care. The names and ages of the children have not been released.
