FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. - Police said they have arrested a man accused of shooting a North Georgia police officer.
Officials said they arrested Timothy Craig Ramsey after an hours-long standoff. He was arrested just after 6 p.m., according to officers, thanks to a tip from someone about a suspicious person.
Ramsey was found in a wooded area just outside McCaysville city limits, according to McCaysville Police Chief Michael Otis Earley.
Ramsey is accused of shooting McCaysville Police Captain Brantley Worley in the face around 11:10 p.m. Friday. The shooting happened on First Street in McCaysville.

Multiple departments, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol tried to arrest Ramsey at his house Saturday morning, but they said he was not there.
Chief Earley said Worley remains in critical condition and asked the public for prayers.
"I ask that you please keep my department, the officer, his family, and his children in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time," Chief Earley said on Facebook.
