Man injured in shooting at metro Atlanta library; police search for shooter

44-year-old Medicus Brown provided by the Decatur Police Department. 

A man is in critical condition after being shot at a metro Atlanta library on Monday afternoon, police said. 

What we know:

Decatur police responded to the DeKalb County Public Library on Sycamore Street around 5:10 p.m. for reports of a person shot. 

Officers found a man inside the upstairs computer room suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

Police have issued warrants for 44-year-old Medicus Brown in connection with the shooting.  Brown is accused of intent to murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. 

The victim and Brown allegedly got into an argument while using the computer, which turned into a physical fight. Police allege Brown pulled out a gun, firing several shots at the victim. 

The library will be closed for at least Tuesday. Police estimated that about 40 to 50 people were inside the library when gunfire started.

It is unclear what led to the argument. Police did not say exactly when the library will reopen or if the gun used has been recovered.
