Police investigate shooting death along Piedmont Avenue

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police in Atlanta spent Wednesday evening investigating a deadly shooting near Midtown Atlanta.

Officers responded to a person shot call around 6:41 p.m. to the 500 block of Piedmont Avenue NE. Atlanta Police said when officers arrived they found a man on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Police said the man was not alert, not conscious or breathing. He as rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.

Homicide investigators are trying to identify the shooter and a motive.
