Police have identified Timothy Buchanan as the teen was shot and killed on a Gwinnett basketball court Sunday evening. Community members are shocked that something like this happened in their neighborhood.
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Gwinnett police have identified a 17-year-old boy who was found dead from a gunshot on a basketball court over the weekend.
Police say they found the body of Timothy Buchanan, 17, of Lawrenceville, Sunday afternoon off Mariray Court on the subdivision's basketball court. Gwinnett County police are investigating his death as a homicide.
Investigators say the shooter fled the immediate area. For that reason, they don't believe there's an imminent threat to the public.

Neighbors are shocked something like this would happen so close to home. Police are still looking for the suspect who killed the 17-year-old Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, neighbors are still trying to process the teen's senseless murder.
"Detectives do have several leads on this case, so they are following up on that now as we speak," Sergeant Jenniger Richter of the Gwinnett County Police Department.
No arrests have been made yet.
FOX 5 Atlanta's Rob DiRienzo spoke to Timothy's sister off-camera. She said the family is heartbroken and not ready to talk about it publicly.
