Police: Homeowner shoots suspected car burglar

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Investigators in Cobb County are trying to piece together what led up to the shooting of a suspected car burglar.

It happened on Buckland Way in the Buckland Oaks subdivision around 5:30 a.m. Monday. Cobb County Police said initial reports indicate the homeowner caught a man breaking into his car.

Police said the homeowner confronted the man which lead to shots being fired. The suspect was shot at least once below the waist, according to officials. He was transported to Atlanta Medical Center where he was recovering Monday evening.

Investigators said they had not formally talked to the suspect and homeowner as of early Monday evening. Police said they hope to have more insight into what led to the shooting after those interviews.
