Police: Fulton Co. judge carjacked at gunpoint

Atlanta Police confirmed Monday morning Fulton County Superior Court Magistrate Judge Karen Smith Woodson and a relative were carjacked by two individuals at gunpoint.

Police say sometime after 8 p.m. on Saint Charles Avenue NE, the judge and a relative were picking up another individual, when the two men ambushed the relative's vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, and told them to step away and leave their phones in the vehicle.

One of the suspects brandishing the gun is described as approximately 6 feet, 2inches tall with short dread locks, in his early 20's and wearing a white shirt. The other male was described as shorter and heavier set.

FOX 5 was the only crew at the crime scene. Fulton County Superior Court Magistrate Judge Karen Smith Woodson said to our crew the ordeal was "horrible," but was okay after the incident.

Police later tracked the judge's vehicle to the corner of Reynolds and Lakewood Ave. in Southeast Atlanta.

Postell Simpson, who says the stolen vehicle was dumped in his driveway, says neighbors told him some individuals dumped the judge's vehicle there, then another vehicle drove off.

A .40 handgun under the driver's seat and an Apple I-Pad in the trunk were taken the vehicle, along with Judge Woodson's Apple I-Phone 5.
