DeKalb County Police are working some "strong leads," but said they still don't know who shot 17-year-old Rakwon Reid in front of his family's home on Shore Drive Wednesday night.

Reid's family members, many of whom were at home at the time of the shooting, said the fact that he was killed in front of his family's home only makes matters worse.

"It's horrible. All he ever did was cut the grass, rap and make clothes. He had so much going for himself--just such a loving guy. This shouldn't have happened to him," Reid's cousin, Otishia Fogle said.

Reid's sisters said young men in two cars were shooting at each other, and then sped off. DeKalb County Police are still trying to determine who those men were and if Reid was the gunman's intended target.

"We'd just gotten home from the store. My mama told him to go close the garage door. He went to the garage, I heard the shots, came running outside and that's when I saw him just lying there on the ground," said Princess Haigler, who is one of the victim's older sisters.

Reid was a sophomore at Stephenson High School. His family will hold a candlelight vigil in front of their home on Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m. Loved-ones hope Reid's killer is in custody before then.

"Whoever knows who did this to my son needs to just come forward because Rakwon did not deserve to die like this," his mother Gabrielle Bowden said as she stood surrounded by her brothers in front of the home.
