Man shot, woman arrested after apparent domestic dispute

A man was shot by a woman who fled the scene following an apparent domestic dispute in Powder Spring, according to police.

The incident occurred in the area of Groveland Park Drive near New Macland Road.

Police say 30-year-old Latasha Whitfield was inside a black Dodge Charger and 33-year-old Octavious Dixon was inside a black Dodge Challenger. Police say the two cars were stopped side-by-side within the subdivision when Whitfield fired several shots into Dixon’s car, striking him. Whitfield then fled the scene.

Police say Dixon described Whitfield and her car to a nearby resident, who called 911.

Police located Whitfield inside her vehicle near C.H. James Parkway. A firearm was reportedly recovered from her vehicle.

Whitfield was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and battery. She is being held at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.

Dixon was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police say he was alert and communicating with detectives.

The relationship between the Whitfield and Dixon is unknown, but police say they are not married.
