Man Killed in Atlanta Shooting, Lockdown Lifted at Nearby School

ATLANTA, Ga. - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in southwest Atlanta on Friday.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, a man in his twenties was found dead outside a residence in the 800 block of Welch Street Southwest around 9:30 a.m. 

The shooting prompted a lockdown at Gideons Elementary School, which is located across the street. The lockdown has since been lifted, but investigators are still actively searching for a shooter.
