Former UGA football star and Super Bowl champion Malcolm Mitchell joined forces Wednesday with fellow athletes to help get Georgia kids reading.

The athlete turned author is giving 5,000 second-graders across the state a copy of his book “The Magician's Hat."

Mitchell and other Bulldogs and NFL players visited classrooms to get students excited about reading so they don't fall behind in school.

The former Patriots player says making sure kids succeed in school all starts with giving them a book to take home.

Mitchell once struggled to read at his grade level and that inspired him to start his foundation.

He's giving books to 65 different schools across Georgia.
