Gwinnett Police searching for convenience store robber

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - The Gwinnett County Police Department is searching for a suspect believed to be responsible for stealing thousands of dollars from a convenience store.

On Aug. 23, the manager of the Santa Fe Food Mart on the 800 block of Indian Trail Road in unincorporated Lilburn reported that he had a suspicious man come inside his store. The man pulled up his hoodie and tried to hide his face, the manager said, and "had an interest in the gambling machines."

Early the next day at around 4:45 a.m. police say they believe the same man smashed the front glass doors of the store with a hammer.

He went on to steal cash from behind the counter and inside the gambling machine, as well as stealing "several packs of cigarettes," police said.

Police estimated the total value of the robbery is around $19,000.

The suspect is described as wearing a shiny red hooded shirt and a backpack.
