Gwinnett County Teacher Apologizes for Remark to Muslim Student

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - “See something, say something”, but make sure you've actually seen something.

A Gwinnett County principal has apologized to the parents of an 8th grader, who is a Muslim. The student was asked by a teacher whether she had a bomb in her book bag.

It happened Monday at Shiloh Middle School in Snellville.

The family complained to the school board and the district released a statement acknowledging the question was not appropriate.

The statement read in part:

“School leaders are continuing to talk and work with the teacher about this situation and her comment. Human resources has been contacted and is investigating the situation.”

The 12-year-old girl had books in her book bag.
