Georgia Tech police officer hit by car on Downtown Connector

A Georgia Tech police officer has been hit by a car on the Downtown Connector near North Avenue. 

The officer was helping Atlanta Police with a chase when he was hit, according to Georgia Tech officials. 

Police tell FOX 5 News that APD officers pulled over a stolen vehicle on Interstate 75/85 near University Avenue but the passengers got out of the car and ran on the interstate. 

A Georgia Tech police officer who was assisting APD was then hit by another car while chasing the passengers on foot. 

He was taken to Grady Hospital to treat a leg injury. 

According to Atlanta Police, the stolen car was recovered but they have not found the car passengers yet. Police are working to identify them.
