Georgia Education Official Forced Out for Online Postings
ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia's school superintendent says an official who posted online about race, religion and partisan politics no longer works for the state Department of Education.
Superintendent Richard Woods said in an emailed statement Tuesday he was "disheartened and disgusted" by the Facebook posts of Jeremy Spencer, who was the associate superintendent of virtual instruction. Woods said the posts do not reflect his opinions or those of the department.
There are reports Spencer frequently posted his thoughts and news stories about black people, Muslims, gay people and partisan politics.
A phone number for Spencer could not immediately be found Tuesday.
