Georgia considers abortion parent notification bill
ATLANTA - Georgia could join 15 other states that require underage girls to justify keeping an abortion secret from their parent or guardian.
State Senator Josh McKoon (R – Columbus) introduced the bill last week.
The current law gives judges no specific guidelines for deciding when to allow minors to bypass notifying parents if they get an abortion.
If passed, the bill would define the burden of proof necessary to get a judge's waiver.
