GBI investigating shootout between Fairburn officers, suspect

FAIRBURN, Ga. - The GBI is investigating a gun battle late Thursday night between Fairburn police officers and a suspect. 

The shooting happened on Meadow Glen Circle just before Midnight.

Investigators said they received a call about a prowler in the area, reportedly walking around and behind homes. Two responding officers spotted the suspect and chased him. That's when police said the man pulled out a gun and started shooting. 

Officers fired back, according to police. No one was injured. 

Officers later took the man into custody and charged him with aggravated assault. Investigators said the suspect's gun was stolen.
