FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - An exciting day for a group of specially trained dogs in Fulton County.
The Canine Cellmates Program held a graduation ceremony at the jail Friday afternoon.
The program takes dogs from Fulton County Animal Services, enlists them in an eight-week training program, and pairs them with an inmate who assists in the training.
It is all in an effort to get the dogs adopted, but this is more than a way to save dogs from the shelter.
Organizers said these dogs play a special role in the rehabilitation of their inmate caretakers.
Friday's furry graduates passed the Canine Good Citizen Test certifying they've passed through obedience school.
They are all now ready for adoption.
