Funeral services took place Monday for two of the three teenagers killed in a car wreck in south Fulton County last week.

Jerret Mumford, 18, his brother, Jaylen, 16, and Ibrahim Sankoh, 18, died on Sunday, September 25. The former Banneker High School students lost their lives on their way back from Homecoming events.

The Mumfords held their sons' funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Friendship Community Church in Fairburn.

Last Thursday, hundreds gathered at Banneker High for a beautiful memorial. The tragedy has ripped at the hearts of everyone who knew and loved the three victims.

"As you can see there is a lot of show of support and this is not even all of the people they have touched in their short lives," the Mumfords' sister Jernee' Mumford said.

During the ceremony on the school's football field, Mumford accepted a "Mr. Banneker High School" crown from the student her brother crowned shortly before he died. Jerret Mumford was the 2015-2016 "Mr. Banneker High School" and an Alabama State University freshman. All three students are being remembered as respectful, popular student athletes.

"These young men were pillars. They were a representation of everything that we would strive for as a school community. We are just blessed that they spent time with us," school principal Duke  Bradley said.

Sankoh's brother Ishmael said he buried his brother on his 17th birthday. But after speaking with a counselor, he learned the coincidence will only strengthen a brotherly bond that will last forever.

"I'm glad she told me that because, if she didn't, I wouldn't have been able to speak today," Sankoh said.
