Energy crews power up new solar project in east Georgia
MILLEN, Ga. (AP) — A 28-megawatt solar project is being activated in east Georgia.
Citizens Solar said the project is being commissioned Friday afternoon in Jenkins County, about 45 miles south of Augusta. Crews planned to pull an electric switch to mark the completion of the project.
Citizens Solar, a division of Boston-based nonprofit Citizens Energy Corp., said in a statement that the Old Midville Solar Project is one of the largest economic development projects for Jenkins County in recent years.
The company says the $45 million solar array will sell energy to Georgia Power.
