Hundreds of DeKalb County residents came together Saturday for the Annual Neighborhood Summit to discuss public safety and deadly police shootings.

DeKalb County's Public Safety Director Dr. Cedric Alexander says if there's a deadly officer involved shooting it's important an outside entity conducts an investigation.

Last year a DeKalb County officer shot and killed 27 year old Anthony Hill.

In recent weeks, we've seen many deadly shootings involving officers leading to protests all over the country.

In Atlanta, people took to the streets Friday to march for justice but protestors did so in a peaceful manner.

Alexander tips his hat off to Mayor Kasim Reed and law enforcement in Atlanta, but Alexander says there's still a lot of work that needs to be done if we want the tension between police and the community to decrease.
