Cobb County Police said the woman who was robbed and shot in the face Monday night sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released the name of the woman, but said the 37-year-old Atlanta resident was walking out of the Sports Authority on Cobb Parkway when she was ambushed by three men who were in a stolen black F-150.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Monday night. Police said the men shot her with a pellet gun after she put up a fight.

Police said the truck was stolen Sunday and was used in a series of car break-ins in a parking lot off the Silver Comet Trial on Mavell Road in Smyrna.

Sgt. Dana Pierce with the Cobb County Police told FOX 5’s Portia Bruner that the truck was briefly chased by Atlanta Police. It ended up in the parking lot of Akers Mill Shopping Center.

“Even if it's a pellet gun, it is clear these men are armed and dangerous,” said Sgt. Pierce.

There was no good description of the men in the crime spree, but investigators hope surveillance video will help give them a better look at the armed robbers.
