House fire in DeKalb County leaves 1 dead, several others hospitalized

One person has died, and multiple people have been rushed to the hospital for treatment after a fire broke out at a DeKalb County home Sunday night.

DeKalb County Fire Rescue tells FOX 5 that shortly after 10 p.m., they responded to the home on the 3500 block of London Road in Chamblee.

When crews got to the scene, they found the building fully engulfed in flames and smoke.

Firefighters got to the work battling the blaze but were unable to stop the fire from causing massive damage to the inside of the building.

Officials say seven people were inside the home when the fire broke out and four of them were taken to the hospital for injuries. One of those transported have since died from their injuries.

According to DeKalb Fire, at least one of the patients went into cardiac arrest at the scene and had to be given CPR before they were transported.

DeKalb Fire says the four people taken to the hospital include three disabled individuals and their adoptive father. Their names and the survivor's conditions have not been released at this time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation
