Chamblee High School employee arrested for sexual battery of student

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Chamblee High School notified parents and guardians of students on Thursday that one of its employees is no longer associated with the school after an incident involving a student.
What we know:
According to the letter sent to school families, school administrations received an allegation against a Chamblee High School staff member involving a minor student toward the end of last semester.
The employee was reportedly placed on administrative leave and prohibited from accessing any DeKalb County School District schools and properties.
The district then followed established security protocols to address the matter and as of Jan. 17, the staff member was no longer employed by the school district.
The now-former employee has been identified by other sources as 50-year-old Barry Cosey.
According to jail records, he was arrested on Jan. 17 by DeKalb County School Police and charged with sexual battery. He was released from jail on Jan. 18.
